Normally you would think to see this style of post during the back to school season. That’s usually the time of year when everyone is winding down from their summer break, and tells themselves that they’re going to have an awesome semester, become super organized and get straight A’s…… Then you get to the second week, it all goes out the window and you just want to sleep.
Throughout my years in university I’ve always needed my planner to make sure that I stay on top of all of my school work, then balance that with my work schedule and social life. Although the beginning of the semester is great, mid-semester is really when you put your organization and time-management skills to the test (Literally). All of your term projects and presentations are due soon and those final assignments need to be handed in! When you have a five class course load like I do, writing it all down is the best way to manage your time so that you can get it all done.
The agenda that I use is the Kate Spade Large Planner, you can buy it online or at Chapters in Canada. This one is a little bit pricey at around $36, but obviously any planner that has the dates and room for you to write will do the trick. The Kate Spade planner has tabbed sections for each month and has both monthly and weekly view formats. I really just love it because it’s gorgeous and fulfills my weird stationary obsession.
With this stationary obsession comes my pen obsession. I like to use a ton of coloured pens and highlighters to colour coordinate my agenda, along with my notes. This just makes things more visually appealing to me so that I’m not just staring at a flat boring page.
I’ve always loved using post-it notes to compliment my schedule, but I’ve recently jumped on the washi tape bandwagon and its starting to take over.
Washi tape is great not only for decorating your planner and your notes, but just about anything else!! They come in countless colours and patterns so there are a ton to choose from and combine. If you take a look on Pinterest, there are a bunch of DIY’s that you can do with washi tape that are worth taking a look at!
Usually what I do every Sunday night is sit down with my work schedule and my course outlines to see what I have coming up during the current week and the following week. This is when I will schedule everything into my week. When I do this, I always put times next to some of my tasks so I have an idea of the time of day that I should be doing them. Once I write in all of my tasks and goals, I will decorate it as I see fit and then I have a pretty schedule to look at for the week!
